I am ME!

"Being a female in a society where fashion and media is slating and analysing body shapes in every-way possible, it's difficult for women to avoid self-hating. I myself never feel that I can relate to the models on high-glossy fashion magazines. Why not? It's all down to their choice in picking un-realistic looking females to grace the covers and editorials. Uninspiring, unrealistic, Photo manipulated girls and not representing the true female society.  Therefore, this is why I feel that woman cannot appreciate their bodies because they are constantly comparing themselves and others to the altered, re-worked models in the media.

Therefore, for my final major project, I want to photograph real women, whatever shape or size. I don't want my images to be super high-glossy fashion editorials, where body is nipped and tucked digitally. I want to capture their personalities and characteristics as I feel that I’ll be able show you the viewer to appreciate the female figure and the girl in front of the camera."

So here are my favourite images that I've already taken so far. I am super SUPER happy to be doing this. I feel so strongly about the way women feel about their bodies and feel that fashion industry needs more realistic woman!

It's been so long, I'm so sorry!

I am sorry readers (If there are any) for the lack of posts and updates. I had been writing my dissertation, which thankfully is all handed in and been focusing on spending time away from University life and taking some quality me time!

But do not fear, more posts will be added from now on - I want to engage more with my followers and let you know the ins and outs of my photographic journey!

Sisters.

I have completely forgot to write about this day, I need to make sure from now on, every shoot I record and write down my thoughts and feelings asap- otherwise I forget!

Anyway, these beautiful three girls, (two are twins, which I think is nearly every fashion photographers dream to photograph) braved the cold winter sun and allowed me to snap some test photos in hope of using them in the future for my FMP. I was so grateful for the sunshine, that morning it was dark, dull and poring down with rain, I didn't think it'll ever clear up! So, once the rain stopped, we ran outside and snapped away and to our luck, the sun stayed out for the rest of the day.

I've read a few tips recently on how to create a dreamy effect in camera, without the use of photoshop by having the sun behind the model - however I did find it very difficult to not completely darken the girls faces and cause so much flare that it damages my lens, this is something hopefully I can work on and learn whilst taking my photos.

I did have to do a fair amont of photoshopping colours to these images - something I still need to grasp. Can anyone give me some tips on how to create the whole 'cross-process' / film effect without it looking to overdone and cheesy? I need to make sure the skin looks natural, but still making the whole photo pop / sharp. Here are some examples of what I'm talking about!

We Heart It - highly recommend!

Just a heads up, none of these photos are taken by me, I do not claim these as mine....But I guess you probably have gathered that already!

Weheartit it pretty much like Pinterest - but I guess more 'hipster'. You categories and search for images in a very simular way to Pinterest as well, however I much prefer the images and how cute the layout of Weheartit is, it's more reliable to find inspirational images. So go check it out for yourself, have a look at my hearted photos and perhaps create one for yourself!
